Embrace You: Your Guide became a hit in Summer 2021, quickly becoming an Amazon bestseller. It was also named Healthline.com’s “Best Overall Weight Loss Book” from 2021 to 2023 and made it onto Livestrong.com’s list of the top 8 Weight Loss Books. I’m really thankful for these honors because Embrace You: Your Guide is different from other “weight loss books” that focus on quick fixes. I wrote “Embrace You” from my own experience of struggling with diets since I was 15. I realized that most diets and weight loss plans don’t really prepare you for the challenges you face on your journey to a healthier lifestyle. Not many talk about the difference between being happy with your weight and being healthy at that weight, or the things that can get in the way of reaching your happy weight. Understanding this difference is super important for staying healthy and happy in the long run. As a medical doctor who’s certified in obesity treatment and has helped thousands of patients, I believe everyone should know how to reach and keep their Happy, Healthy Weight & Wellness, whether they’re trying to lose weight or just live a healthier life.
One of the most common questions I’ve received since the release of the bestseller “Embrace You: Your Guide to Transforming Weight Loss Misconceptions Into Lifelong Wellness” in 2021 is, “Do you have an audiobook version?”
And I get it—being a book lover and busy working woman myself, I frequently listen to audiobooks. So trust me, I wanted to create an audiobook for “Embrace You: Your Guide” sooner. But, I’ll tell you a secret about why it took so long. I wasn’t following my own advice: “Release perfectionism.” Ouch! I admit it.
In my mind, I wanted to create an audiobook on my own—how hard could it be? Lots of people do it, so can I… right? Wrong!
For a multitude of reasons, recording the book on my own wasn’t happening. One year became two, and I still kept getting the question, “Do you have an audiobook version?” from time-crunched, busy women like me who were looking for holistic, personalized solutions to stop struggling with weight and live life lighter in body, mind, and spirit.
That’s when I realized I was doing it again—letting perfectionism prevent progress. Getting the book to more women looking for wellness-based solutions to living lighter was more important than me reading the book.
